The Pros and Cons of Daily Phone Cleaning

The Pros and Cons of Daily Phone Cleaning

Regular phone cleaning may sound tedious, but it is one of the recommended ways to maintain good hygiene. Since the surface of phones come into contact with a vast number of germs, if measures are not taken to reduce this it can result in a buildup of germs such as bacteria and fungi. There are a number of methods of keeping a clean phone:

Alcohol

When using an alcohol spray, the solution may pool on the phone and cause internal damage to the device. As a result, wipes are a better alternative than sprays when using alcohol to disinfect a phone.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend using a solution that contains at least 70% alcohol when using this method. Some products that meet these requirements include: alcohol-based disinfectant wipes containing at least 70% alcohol, diluted rubbing alcohol and some alcohol pads doctors use for sanitizing skin before injections and other procedures. Note: bleach must never be used.

UV Light Boxes

UV light is one type of electromagnetic radiation that comes naturally from the sun, and can be artificially created with specialized bulbs. There are three types of UV radiation, UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C, none of which can be observed with the naked eye. Most commercial UV products (made using UV-C), including UV light boxes for phones, are sold as sanitizers. It’s important to note sanitation and disinfection aren't synonymous; sanitization reduces the growth of bacteria, growth, or fungi. Disinfection, however, “eliminates many or all pathogenic microorganisms, except bacterial spores, on inanimate objects.” (Source: CDC)

UV sanitizing boxes usually take around 10 minutes to sanitize a phone, and frequent use is required to maintain a high level of efficacy.

Clen

Whilst both of these methods are effective, the goal of Clen is to make having a clean phone as easy as possible. In order to do this, we have combined advanced biotechnology into Clen cases and screens, to prevent bacteria and viruses surviving on the surface. The technology does not require light to work, lasts for one year, and is 100% safe for humans, plants and animals. This method of disinfectant means that both the screen and back of your phone can be protected from bacteria and viruses for a year without having to manually disinfect either. Effortless, successful and cost effective. The power of science!
